For the moment there was silence between them. All Chase heard was the constant sound of the jet engine, the hush of the cabin. Blake was dressed in his usual heavy blacks, and Chase could feel the hardness of him, the heat of him. The sort of heat you could smell. Chase half expected him to speak, but the muscular black just sat there with him, body pressed close. Silent.

"I don't see it," Chase said, finally. He had half a mind to pass the laptop back. "I mean, sure. This could have been a problem back in Atlanta."

Blake continued to talk in his usual quiet, severe tone. Sometimes that quiet voice carried a hard threat, but there was nothing of that now between them. This put aside rivalries. "You see that shit though, yeah, squirt?"

"So he got back stage. I didn't see anyone backstage that shouldn't have been there." Chase looked at the blog for a moment longer. "This is all just talk."

"Was only a matter of time. Always knew Dane was gonna get big enough that he'd get fans like this."

Chase couldn't help himself. He glanced across the small cabin to where the singer was sitting. It took him back to when he had taken Dane back to the hotel that night. His head was laid back against the seat, his eyes closed. He looked peaceful. Oblivious. There were papers on the table in front of him. More business that Mannon had given him. The manager was sitting across from them, looking over his iPad.

"You see this?"

Chase felt the heavy press of Blake's body as he leaned closer and paged up the blog a few screens. He looked at the photo there, haphazardly taken, Dane sitting behind a table signing a CD. There was something almost intimate about the way Blake spoke in close. Chase felt the heat of Blake's breath.

"Powerhouse."

"Yeah, Powerhouse."

Chase shook his head, trying to sort out where the photo might have been taken from. Even if he knew, there was no way he could recall which fan it was. There had been so many, and he'd been distracted, chatting up Simon half the time. Chase closed the laptop. He'd seen enough. He didn't want to see more. Didn't want to be reminded that maybe he'd slipped up. Blake wasn't making as much of it as he thought he would. The mood had changed between them. Now it was just all about Dane.

Game time.

"Last thing we need is a fan getting through the two of us," Blake said, still quiet. Chase felt him tap at his chest with his hand. "You want to see Dane getting fucking molested by some crazed fan? You read that shit.
