CHAPTER 21

It didn’t take long for Sabre to come up with a solid plan to deal with Rickson Everett. Then Gage went to check on Breezy and the girls.

Following a trail of popcorn crumbs that would have gotten Hansel and Gretel home safe and sound, Gage moved from the freshly raided snack bar to the locker room.

With a smile, he took a moment to shoot a text to his brothers about their Little girls’ antics.

Should he feel bad about tattling on them?

Nope. It was all part of the lifestyle they loved. When Littles went out of their way to be naughty, they were begging for some stern attention. There would be some toasty warm bottoms in Darling tonight.

If he hadn’t stopped to send that text, he might have caught more of Breezy’s story. That he missed at least a small part of it might be the only reason he was still standing by the time she finished.

Her words, and the pain in her voice as she spoke, damn near eviscerated him. He was the most colossal dick on the planet. No wonder she kept pushing back against his efforts. It was a miracle she was willing to breathe his air.

She probably wouldn’t tolerate his presence at all if she didn’t need his help to shed off her psycho stalker. Her strength through everything she’d endured was incredible. He was so fucking proud of her.

The knowledge he had played a role in causing her the kind of pain he heard in her voice was enough to bring him to his knees. If he hadn’t caught himself by pressing his hand against the wall, he would have gone down. The thump it made almost gave him away. He didn’t take another breath until she started talking again.

To know that, when Crowley had held her close in Rosalinda’s, it wasn’t because they were kissing but because that fucker had drugged her stirred the beast in his chest like nothing he’d ever experienced.

He thought he might vomit when he thought of what could have happened to her that night. How could a father do what Alex Boucher had done?

Not that he could lay all the blame on her father. Gage had plenty to answer for himself. He’d jumped to so many conclusions.

Shame washed over him like acid. How had he fallen for that shit? He knew his Breezy. Knew she loved him. But she’d been right. He’d jumped at the chance to walk away. His own demons were a bitch.

Then she started spewing shit about not blaming him. He knew if he didn’t step in right then, she would be lost to him forever. There was no telling how long that poison had been festering in her brain, but every minute it was there it destroyed his chance of winning her back that much more.

With more willpower than he had ever shown in his life, Gage stepped into the doorway. Every eye hit him like a physical blow when he spoke.

He wasn’t used to the Little’s hating him, but they did right then.
