Emma

The terror that I had felt knowing there were people among us willing to do us harm, made my knees weak.

When I’d come here, I’d thought it was just to keep my baby safe. Now, months later after all that we’d been through as a group, we’d become a family.

More than just people that were related to my baby, but people that had my back. We'd fought and lost a few to save many others. Yet I was scared it wasn't going to be enough to make them loyal to us. They hadn't had time to see us in action and know that we meant for them to live in peace.

Barry, John, and Adam hadn’t realized that we knew what was going to happen.

I’d alerted my in-laws, Katherine and Mason, who’d sprung into action.

If I’d had any doubts before that they were prepared and ready for anything, they were all gone.

The kids or rather teens who'd been helping us had continued to load all the trucks keeping an eye on those men.

It was hard to act like nothing was going on, but I didn’t want any of these thugs to get wind of what we had planned. If only the messenger could get through to the guys and bring them back in time.

Mason made the announcement that we needed to have a group assignment meeting up where we’d had the funeral. All those who were planning to move to would need to attend, giving us time to get things prepared to take out those we knew were planning to hurt us.

I headed back into the barn to check on the teens but was startled when a hand clamped over my mouth.

Arms pulled me back into the barn out of sight.

“Don’t move or I’ll slit your throat, pretty lady.” The rough voice behind me warned.

Zip ties cut into my wrist as I fought against everything inside me to show these bastards they what they were dealing with. Someone would discover I was missing and should start searching for me.

Adam threw me into the hay bales next to Tess.

They’d split up the boys and the girls to keep them from escaping without the others.

“What do you want?” I spoke quietly so they wouldn’t think I was trying to alert anyone.

We’d played right into their hands by moving all the vulnerable people out of their way and up the mountain.

“Why we want to take over this perfect little setup that you’ve got here. When Pratt arrives, then he’ll get to decide if you’re worth keeping for the please between your legs and the work you can do.” Barry threatened with a grin looking at the girls next to me.

“You know that our guys are going to be back way before Pratt gets here. He’s off in some big city living it up while you’re here doing his dirty work for him. I mean I know you’ve gotten food and a shower, but really is it fair for him to sleep in a
