Crazy in Love

Cynthia slid the needle into her vein and pushed her sweet escape into her arm. She watched as a little blood formed around the puncture made by the needle. She smirked as the powerful drug moved through her bloodstream and made her feel alive. She grabbed the piece of rubber that she had tied around her arm and pulled it off. Then she closed her eyes and let the euphoric feeling take over her body. She’d been in contact again with Lacroix, to touch base about their plan. He told her that he was in Kingston and would be joining her at Chauncey’s house soon. He wanted to lay low for a while and check the climate of the city. The people were very loyal to King George because he looked out for them, and took care of everyone.

Cynthia eased the needle out of her arm and set it down on the nightstand. She picked up her cigarette and took a long drag. She could hear Solomon and Ellie arguing from down the hall. They’d been a pain in her ass since she’d agreed to let them stay there at the house. She hit her cigarette once more and the fire consumed the nicotine down to the filter, then she smashed it down in the ashtray. Cynthia got up from the side of her bed and walked over to the door. She was scantily dressed in a sheer nightgown that hung from her bony shoulders. Her hair was in disarray because she hadn’t combed it since Chauncey died. It had begun to turn into massive locks of hair. She grabbed another cigarette and fired it up. She needed something to calm her nerves, and cigarettes often seemed to do the trick.

Cynthia threw open the door and walked out into the hallway. Solomon’s and Ellie’s voices were loud and carried all the way through the house. They were blowing her high, and she couldn’t take it anymore.

Cynthia charged down the hallway to their room. She kicked open the door with extreme force and stood there glaring at both of them. Solomon and Ellie jumped as the door flew open. Ellie grabbed Solomon and hugged him tight as the smoke of Cynthia’s cigarette circled around her head.

“Shut da fuck up! I’m tired of both you muddafuckas arguing all da time up in my shit! Now ya chose ta come to my house, and ya knew I had Chauncey’s body wit me wen ya came!” Cynthia growled. “Ellie, biiiiiiitcccchhhh, eida ya gonna get wit da program or get da fuck outta my shit! We practice voodoo up in dis muddafucka, and all dat Jesus mumbo-jumbo is gonna stop, mon! Where was ya sweet Jesus Christ wen dat bitch Shade killed ya daughter, mon? I’ll tell ya where. He was sittin’ up in heaven drinkin’ a latte and talkin’ bout how all of ya are a bunch of stupid muddafuckas!” Cynthia reached into her pocket and pulled out a chicken foot with feathers tied to it by pieces of leather string.
