Chapter 7 ~ Jodi

“CASPER!” JODI CRIED as soon as she entered the house and saw the white furry puppy racing toward her.

She went on her knees and clasped the warm little body in her arms. The puppy licked her face with its little tongue.

“I missed you. That big bad Shane didn’t allow you to come home before now, did he?” She rose with the animal in her arms. “I should teach you to bite him and Dylan, shouldn’t I?” She giggled and carried Casper to her room. She gently placed him on the bed and sat beside him.

“I hope you didn’t react to your shots.” Her hands roamed the silky fur. Casper licked her hand.

She let out a deep sigh. “I don’t know what to do, Casper. One minute, I’m mad at Dylan, and the next I’m having wild sex with him in his brother’s truck. Am I not a hopeless case?”

Casper, as if sensing her wretchedness, snuggled closer to her. Jodi allowed the tears that had been threatening to fall after she had sex with Dylan, to flow down her face. Being with Dylan that way again made her realize that truly, it wasn’t just sex between them.

“But how can I be with a man who doesn’t have a commitment bone in his body? Even if he did, he’s all shades of wrong for me. Do you know what I went through having a military man in my life? It was sheer horror.” A nostalgic smile crossed her face. “Well, at first it was sweet because I was in love and he was so protective of me. I found it romantic until his job interfered in our relationship and... I got hurt.”

She sniffed. “Why am I telling you all this when I should have told Dylan?” She made a face, nodding. “I didn’t tell him because he would have tried to convince me, that being in a relationship with him would be different. He would have made love to me again after that and I would have been so lost in the ecstasy, I would have agreed to anything.”

Groaning, she fell on the bed and stared at the ceiling. She still couldn’t believe she had given in to her lust again. She had to stop having sex with Dylan before she lost herself to him completely.

Damn him and his irresistible, muscular body!

“I should call Amber to get me out of here. I can’t live in the same house with Dylan and not think about his biceps, his tattoos, and how he feels while he pulls in and out of me.”

Heat pooled in between her thighs instantly. “Fuck! I’ve got to leave. I can’t stay here.”

Jodi immediately got up, and leaving Casper in the room, hurried to take a quick shower. She returned to the room and quickly put on a shirt and denim skirt.

“Darn it! I left my phone at the hospital.” She would just have to go back and get it.

Sneaking out again through the window with Dylan and Shane in front of the house would be impossible, so she decided to go through the back door.
