◘ Keep track with wax

Some people like the look of wood spotted with old woodworm holes, but if you don't, you can easily disguise the holes with wax or a wood filler—the damage will be less conspicuous and fresh infestations will be easier to spot.

◘ Break out the car filler

For an inexpensive alternative to wood filler, try car body filler, which will work with particleboard and MDF as well as solid wood. Before applying the product, drive small screws into the damaged area. This will help the filler to bond and stop it from cracking.
