Chapter Twenty

Elijah couldn’t remember a time where he’d been more elated. There was a distinct possibility that there hadn’t been one. Watching his boyfriend fall to his knees with joy and bury his face in his hands had Elijah’s eyes watering, overcome with happiness. Witnessing Gideon achieve what he’d worked so hard for felt even more incredible than any of Eli’s own achievements had. All he wanted to do was run down onto the field and scoop Gideon up into his arms, but he knew that would have to wait. Instead, he and Bryce waited until people began to file out of the stadium before heading down to the team locker room to wait for Gideon to come out.

After an excruciating twenty minutes spent pacing up and down the hallway, Elijah nearly tackled Gideon when he finally emerged.

“Baby,” he cried, frantically smashing their mouths together as he hooked his arms under Gideon’s armpits, practically lifting him to his lips. “Oh shit, baby.”

Gideon kissed him back hungrily. “I can’t fucking believe it,” he breathed before going in for more.

“Believe it.” Elijah grinned, placing his hands on Gideon’s cheeks so he could pull back to look into sparkling blue eyes. “You did it. You really did it.”

“Fuck,” Gideon muttered, sighing when Elijah slotted their mouths back together. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Elijah promised, peppering Gideon’s lips with kisses. “So much.”

“Are you gonna let me in there, Boss Daddy?” Bryce teased, wrapping his arms around both of them as they laughed.

“Really?” Gideon chuckled, clearly in too good of a mood to be pressed. He let go of Elijah and gave his best friend the hug he was going for.

“Congratulations, man,” Bryce said proudly, ruffling Gideon’s hair.

Elijah shook the hands of every teammate of Gideon’s he recognized and smirked when his goodwill was cut short by Gideon pushing him against the wall to give him another passionate kiss. There was nothing Elijah loved more than Gideon showing affection, especially when he was so overwhelmed by desire that he didn’t care who was watching.

“Elijah,” he began softly, in a voice that was usually reserved for their most intimate moments.

“What’s up, baby?” Elijah whispered back.

“You know how our room’s really big?”

“I do,” he confirmed, grinning as Gideon nuzzled their noses together.

When he was booking their room in the hotel, Elijah was glad to see that the presidential suite was available. The four bedrooms and eighteen-hundred square feet of living space made it possible for Bryce to room with them, without really rooming with them, and Gideon to sleep by himself if he’d wanted to, based on a possible loss.

“You know, a bunch of us are underage so we can’t all go out to the bars to party together or whatever. I was thinking that we could have the team come up to the suite.”

Gideon was biting his lower lip in a way that drove Elijah crazy. He looked like he was tentative to ask, which amused Elijah. There was no way his man didn’t realize that Elijah would give him anything he wanted and then some.
