TAKE GOLIATH DOWN!

Scriptural Focus: 1 Samuel 17:32–51

LESSON OBJECTIVE: To remember how weak our giants are in light of God’s strength and to commit to trusting God to strengthen us with his power

Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and he put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine. (1 Samuel 17:40 NKJV)

REWIND: The nay-sayers were plenty. How could this shepherd boy stand against Goliath? The boy was so small he couldn’t move wearing Saul’s armor. So, he went back to being what he was—a shepherd with a staff. The only addition was the five smooth stones he collected from the brook. Boys don’t defeat giants; shepherds don’t defeat warriors. David knew he couldn’t win this battle. But he knew God could . . . and would!

Your giants taunt you reminding you of their power and might. You can’t win. You’re born to lose. What can you say in response to your giants?
