CHAPTER 13
“So what’s the plan?” Imrich asked, sitting in the passenger seat and letting Bolan drive for the first time since they’d gotten together.
“I have an asset that needs to be interrogated.”
“Where?”
“I thought we’d head back to the first warehouse we explored,” the soldier stated.
“Do you think that’s a good idea? The only thing we managed to accomplish the last time was to nearly get killed.”
“That’s why we’ll go there now—no one will think to look for us there.”
“Sounds reasonable enough,” she said, then laughed. “Though you and reasonable don’t often wind up on the same street.”
Bolan circled the neighborhood that the warehouse was in and then brought the Humvee to rest just outside the alley where Smith had tried to take them out before. The Executioner stepped out of the vehicle and waited for his companion to walk around the side.
Imrich stepped into the warehouse in front of Bolan, and he moved in behind her, letting her hair spill through his fingers like a river of jet as he exposed her neck. Stepping close, he wrapped one arm around her waist, pulling her in tightly.
“If you wanted this kind of play, Cooper, we could have stayed at the compound where there is a nice warm bed, good food and—”
As Bolan pulled a small cloth covered in chloroform out of his pocket and covered her mouth, the rest of her sentence was cut off. She struggled against him wildly for several long seconds, then went under and he lowered her to the ground. He removed the cloth the moment she went down, not wanting to dose her too strongly, and tossed it aside along with the glove that protected his hand from the noxious chemical.
He disarmed her and tossed her over his shoulder before dropping her into a battered-looking chair. He needed to work quickly before she regained consciousness. He grabbed some heavy twine lying on the floor and tied her feet together and then her hands, securing her to a pipe sticking out from the sheet metal wall. Bolan carefully removed any objects from the wall that might become a weapon, the last being a six-inch nail.
Her eyes fluttered opened, then went to half-mast—the cold, hungry stare of a predator cat. “If this isn’t some weird kind of foreplay, you’d better start explaining yourself, Cooper. In fact, no matter what it is, you’d best start talking.”
Bolan ignored her, pulling up a crate that appeared solid and taking a seat. He removed a long, thin-bladed knife from his boot, examined it for a moment, then sent it spinning her way. It hit the wall to the left of her eye, missing her by scant inches. He stood up and retrieved it, then sat back down. “If I don’t get the right answers, Dusana, all the talking in the world won’t save you again. All I’ve done since I got here was talk and get dragged from one trap to another. I’m out of patience.”
“You’re not—”
“So now you’re going to tell me, Dusana, where the Secretary of State is being held.
