Here it was. His chance to come clean. To tell her everything that he suspected regarding her neighbors. He would have preferred to keep her in the dark and just put the cameras up to catch them in action, but it was no meant to be.

Linzy obviously wouldn't relent without a good reason.

“I believe it's your neighbors, the Campbell's, who are letting the dogs out,” he rushed to say.

“I see,” she said evenly, but she obviously didn't see because she didn't seem to care. “And how did you come to this conclusion? Did you see them open the gate?”

“No, but that's why I want to put the camera up. So I can catch them.”

“One camera would have served that purpose, not six,” she said, deadpan.

She was upset that he hadn’t explained about the added security. He had been evasive yesterday, only telling her he was installing security and not what he was putting up. He’d have to make sure he didn’t mention the motion sensors. “The extra cameras are to watch the house and barn.”

“So. You think their crimes go beyond letting the dogs out?” She crossed her arms over her chest looking like an avenging angel.

She was definitely pissed off and he would have to tread carefully. Their relationship was new, and she could send him away and it would become even harder to keep her safe.

“Abigail looked into the family. She found some interesting information.”

“Wait a minute.” She waved her hands halting him. “Like a background check? Who are you?” she asked, in horror.

Sam didn’t like the look on her face. She was devastated that he would look into her neighbors. He had to make her understand why.

“I just want you to be safe.” He would go to any lengths to ensure her safety.

“Why do you care so much? I'm not your responsibility.”
