Chapter Nine
By lunch they had hit Reno. The temptation to stay and play was overwhelming. But Jude wanted to get to Denver. It was bad enough they had to stop off in Salt Lake City.
After a quick bite, they were pushing to get as close to the state line as possible.
Logan could tell Jude was exhausted. He didn't know how Jude did it, day after day, driving. It seemed so draining.
Logan was tired of being on the road. Maybe that was what he was waiting for. The craving for being settled. But settled where? And he was beginning to feel guilty he hadn't called home in so long. A month? Had he really been gone that long?
"Jude?"
"Hm?"
"I know you're trying to get us to Utah, but let's call it a night."
"Yer right. I'm needin' a break. There's a rest area comin'
up. Thanks, Logan. I guess sometimes I get too anxious and don't want to stop."
"We'll still get to Denver by Saturday afternoon."
"We will. Yer right."
Logan breathed out a sigh as the rest stop came into view.
Jude parked with the other big rigs, finally shutting down the engine.
"Right. A piss, a wash, and some grub."
"Got it." Logan smiled.

They met at the front of the truck and walked together to the bathroom. Logan relieved himself with a sigh. Holding it in sucked. But he wasn't going to pee into a bottle.
Washing his hands and splashing his face, Logan spotted Jude approaching the sinks to do the same. Once they felt refreshed, Logan held the door open for Jude.
As Jude passed, he gave Logan's bottom a playful squeeze.
Stunned, Logan looked back into the bathroom, but didn't find anyone that noticed. "That was brave of you."
"It's just the weariness."
"Sure, Jude. Whatever you say." Logan caught the sparkle of lust in his eye.
Once they had ordered and were sipping a cold beer, Logan asked, "So, tell me about Taylor."
"What do you want to know? Is this still about what we did together? I'm a gentleman, and I ain't tellin' ya that."
"I don't know why I'm curious. How long have you two known each other?"
"Since we were kids. His daddy owns a construction company and now has a ranch near San Antonio."
Logan waited as Jude drank more beer.
When he wiped his mouth off, Jude continued, "Taylor's always been gay and pretty open about it. I remember when he came out to his daddy. What a scene. I thought Mr.
Madison was goin' to kick Taylor's ass from Texas to Wyomin'."
"Wow. That sucks."
"It did. Taylor's the oldest of a brood of siblings, Logan. I expect Big Daddy Madison thought Taylor should be settin' an 150

example. Believe me, Taylor's very independent, and he could care less. He won the old man over eventually. Taylor works for him, does some project managing or somethin'. Now he's happily settled with his accountant, uh, Owen. Damn if I can remember his last name."
"Really? Happily ever after?"
"That's what he tells me. Look, Logan, who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
