"Hey Nicholas, how do you get a nun pregnant?"

"I don't know."

"I don't know Dominic. How do you?"

"Dress her up as an altar boy!" they all laughed.

Now, that was just beyond sick. I ground my teeth as they cackled at their table, dishing out high fives and cheering each other on like animals.

While laughing at the lame joke, Dominic gave me a naughty smirk and continued to pat Nicholas on the back. I held my fork, shaking my hand so hard that it bent under the pressure.

"Just ignore them," Benjamin said, his hand sliding over mine.

It was almost impossible to tune out someone shouting their homophobic opinions right next to you. I found their behavior and speech revolting and couldn't stand being near them.

They were verbally attacking us.

"Gay guys are fucking assholes. Literally," Nicholas said.

Anger boiled in my veins as I snarled, and the other guys pretended not to hear the hateful words. Those guys were nearly yelling at us. Our so-called friends just sat there avoiding eye contact with us, eating their lunch as if nothing was happening, as if we weren't being degraded in front of everyone. I glared at Dominic with a look of fury, hoping he knew how lucky he was that I wasn't going over there to beat him up for Benjamin's sake. I would love to smash his face if given the opportunity.

"Yeah, Benjamin's right," Oliver said. "They're just trying to get a rise out of you."

"Well," I said, clenching my jaw. "It's fucking working."

"Relax, baby," Benjamin whispered.

I threw my fork onto the table, tossing my tray aside. I ripped my hand from Benjamin's and glowed at Nicholas and Dominic. Benjamin appeared hurt momentarily, but he sighed and resumed eating lunch.

"How many gay men does it take to screw in a light bulb?" Dominic questioned, smiling. We locked eyes with a sinister expression. "Nobody...? Okay..." He taunted, pausing for effect. "One... but it takes half the E.R. staff to get it out."

I stood up, my fists clenched at my sides.

Benjamin seized my arm and stopped me from going over there to beat him to a bloody pulp. Dominic gave a hearty laugh when he saw me standing. Opening his arms, he jeered for me to do something. Fury knotting in my stomach, spreading like cancer, eating me alive until nothing was left but this thing inside me.

I was so mad.

I took my tray filled with food and threw it onto the floor near Dominic's feet. The juice I had been drinking splattered on the floor, soaking a few bystanders. Some food left flew and landed on the losers sitting at Dominic's table. At that moment, the cafeteria hushed as everyone braced for a fight. I waited with clenched fists for his next move. He and his friends stood there, stunned until anger overtook his expression.

"You fucking piece of shit!"

"Come see what the faggot can do," I sneered, taking a threatening step forward.

Benjamin stood, then placed a firm hand on my chest.
