Emma

Treatment today was nothing like what Aria and I got yesterday. The Land Rover they put us in was a luxury in itself; we were offered drinks and food. For twenty grand, we should be riding in a limo and drinking Dom Perignon from gold goblets. I guess this was preferential treatment. Why was he doing this for me?

“Elon,” I started softly, holding on to the handle as we bumped our way through the sand dunes. He glanced over with those mesmerizing green eyes. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He smiled and my heart skipped a beat. “Don’t worry. We’ll find her.”

It felt like we drove for hours but it was only an hour. There was no sign of Aria nor her date. The car they took last night was nowhere to be found. I couldn’t believe she would have been so reckless.

And it was time to get on camels, again. Oh joy. My butt hadn’t recovered from the last ride. This felt a bit like a déjà vu. By the time we got to our spot, which wasn’t the same location where we were yesterday, I was exhausted.

I slid off the camel and would have hit the ground if not for Elon. He caught me, while my legs were completely numb and refused to hold my weight.

Nice impression you’re making, Emma. I’d roll my eyes, but I couldn’t muster the effort.

“C’mon,” he lifted me effortlessly into his arms and my hands reached for his neck. “I’ll carry you.”

“How come your legs don’t hurt?” I whined. “When we find Aria, I’ll hug her, and if she was being irresponsible and had a great time while we are going through all this, remind me to kill her.”

“You got it, beautiful,” he replied.

As he carried me to a large set up tent, I glanced up and drew in a breath of wonder.

“Oh my goodness,” I exclaimed in wonder. “Look at this!”

In front of us, the desert met the sea and the view stretched for miles. It was breathtaking.

“It’s where Namib Desert meets the sea,” Elon explained.

“If Aria’s date brought her here, she’ll be stuck to him forever,” I mumbled. “She is a huge romantic and this is the kind of thing she would love.”

“Let’s take a rest and have lunch,” he recommended. “I’ll ask a few questions and then we can go walk to the beach. No sense in us being here and not taking advantage of it.”

He took us to the open tent that was already set up with food and drinks, and two lounge areas on the matted floor with cushions everywhere.

“Welcome,” one of the men greeted us. “Congratulations on your honeymoon. We have everything set up for you.”

I glanced at Elon, feeling my treacherous complexion giving away my embarrassment and we both chuckled. I supposed we looked the part at that moment, him carrying me across the sand dunes to the tent to have lunch. As soon as we both sat down on the mat, they started serving food. I couldn’t help but glance back at the magnificent view stretching in front of us.
