“Ferreri is one of our highest paying associates, Tino!” Enzo paces his office after I shared the news of what Victoria had told me. Deep inside, I knew that it was a mistake, but he deserves the truth from me. “Where does Victoria come into this? You said they were sisters, yes?”

“Yes. They have different fathers. According to Tori, her mother cheated before she became wedded to Inna’s father. As a result, Tori isn’t even looked at as a member of the family. She was cast aside after her mother passed away.” That part killed me. When I saw the look in her eyes and the pain of her past, it nearly ripped me apart. She cried for a long time, her tears shredding what’s left of my heart. Even as I sit here telling Enzo what I’ve learned, my chest aches.

“Fucking hell! What am I to do here?” he asks more to himself.

“Inna was to be wedded to an Irishman. Not just any Irishman, Enzo.”

“Who? Who is it?”

“Sean O’Malley.” As his name leaves my mouth, Enzo’s eyes flicker with fire.

“What do you mean, Sean O’Malley?” he hisses.

“When he canceled his visit with us a while back, apparently he was heading to Russia to make plans for his wedding to Inna. This has been a long time coming from what Tori has told me. It is why she took her sister and fled Russia to the States. She has been running and hiding her since then,” I inform him.

“And she just happens to stumble into our establishment of all places?” he roars. I shake my head and sigh.

“Not exactly. She looked into our family. She knew that if she was to get in with the Ricci’s that they would be her source of protection as far as the club goes.” Enzo closes his eyes, taking slow, deep breaths, trying to keep his anger under control. Switch sits in the corner, looking as smug as ever. I can’t even begin to imagine what he might be thinking.

“That leaves us nowhere, Tino. What am I to do now? Am I supposed to throw away a forty-year relationship with Ferreri over some girl?” I know what he’s thinking, and I don’t have an answer. He’s right. It would be a huge risk to sever that kind of bond, and it would be a huge loss of income. All of these things are things that I’ve run through my mind since Tori told me. But there is one thing that I don’t think Enzo completely understands just yet, and something I find myself having trouble with, but I don’t plan on letting Victoria go.

“I have no idea what to say here, Enzo. The situation is a complicated mess.”

“That’s bein’ nice about it,” Switch adds. I nod my head because I do understand the predicament that this puts the Ricci family in. I’m stuck in the middle, whether I like it or not.

“I need time to figure this out. Victoria doesn’t leave this house until I say, yes?” Enzo looks at me with authority in his gaze.
