GASOLINE

Although it is rare to find cruising yachts using gasoline fuel for their main engines, it is commonly used for dinghy and other motors.

Gasoline can be found virtually anywhere there is human habitation. Oil for two-cycle engines (most outboards, portable generators and portable pumps) may not be so readily available. Regular lube oils sometimes have to be substituted, often leading to increased plug fouling. Carry two-cycle oil and spare plugs.

LUBRICANTS

Good quality engine lube oils are often hard to find in less developed parts of the world, so stock up with enough for at least three oil changes, together with the filters. Gearbox lubricants, waterproof greases and moisture repellents should also be carried.
