Making a Coffin Clock

Our goal in this demonstration is to show you the basic steps that go into making your own clock. We chose the coffin clock because it is a classic clock with simple lines. It also incorporates an “all-in-one” dial and bezel and a quartz movement. The complete plans for making the Shaker-Style Coffin Clock and a photograph of the finished clock are found on pages 138–140.

Plane the wood to the correct thickness. Each board will be planed to the thickness given in the parts list on page 139. Planing can also be done by hand.
