Lindsay had taken the glasses from me, as I now concentrated on running the boat. The VHF squawked, âThank you, Murph, I owe you, big time! I bet he doesnât try that crap again anytime soon.â
âCraziest thing Iâve seen on the water in quite a while, and thatâs saying something, Gary. And Iâll settle for a drink at the Beach Bar when you get back.â
âRoger that, Cap. Youâre on, but for more than just one, Iâve got your whole bar tab!â
Lindsay interrupted our conversation, still looking through the binoculars.
âOh, it just got crazier; those two are fighting. Wait, fightâs over. The big guy missed and hit a top support. The way heâs holding his hand, it looks like he may have broken something.â
Sandy piped up, âThis day just keeps getting better and better! And I thought that you two were good for stories, Casey and Dawn. But Iâve hit the jackpot with these two kids. I need to hang around you guys more often when I get back.â
âBring your own beer,â I said.
âOurs too,â Linds added.
âHuh? What? Oh, ha ha. Funny people.â
The other four of us laughed, it was a good release for the tension that had been built up by what had happened.
Linds took another look through the glasses, âLooks like theyâve had enough. Theyâre hooked up and headed back south.â
I looked over and waved at Gary, which he returned as I slowly eased my throttles forward, bringing us back up to a high cruising speed. As I resumed our course for Bayside, I saw Casey was on the phone.
After Casey hung up, he said, âIâve arranged with Rik for some extra security for the Mole through his stay at Bayside. We donât need any negative publicity if those guys show up and they all get into it there. Weâre going to make sure that Keller and his bunch arenât allowed anywhere near the place.â
This is part of why I love being in partnership with Casey; itâs all about the details with him. I nodded and leaned back in my helm seat, wondering if I hadnât known the crew, would I have jumped in the middle of that incident? Iâd like to think I would always come to the rescue of anyone being attacked out on the water, but when it came to the Mole, I wasnât too sure of that.
