“Whew,” Tiffany said, leaning back against the front door of the bakery.

“I agree,” Tina said, sagging against the counter. “What a day.” It seemed like they had been run off their feet from the moment they opened until closing. While it was great to see the business they’d both poured so much of themselves—their time and their energy, not to mention the money—into doing so well, it was exhausting work. She’d been baking all day, working on a special order of a child’s Disney princess birthday cake, dealing with customers in between, fielding phone calls, and booking more special orders than she could probably fit into each day, but she didn’t want to turn anyone away.

“May as well get started cleaning up,” Tiffany said with a sigh, shoving wearily away from the door. Her twin looked exhausted, and there was really no need for both of them to work late again.

“You go, I’ll finish up here. I have to wait for Owen to come and pick me up anyway, and I want to try to get a bit more of the princess cake finished off,” Tina told her sister.

“Are you sure?”

“Of course. All that’s left to do is sweep and mop the floor anyway, then I’ll just work on the cake until Owen gets here. Just don’t go home right now okay?” She was eternally grateful that Tiffany hadn’t been there last night when her stalker had broken in. She didn’t even want to think about what would have happened if she had. “Until we find out who broke in, I don’t think either of us should stay there.”

“I can stay with Eva for a few days. You’re staying with Owen?”

“Yep.” At least until they found her stalker, but maybe even after that.

“So you and Owen, huh? You guys officially back together?” Tiffany asked with a smile.

“Yep, we’re together again.” Despite everything else that was going on in her life, the stalker and the break-in, some of her things being stolen, Tina couldn’t not smile when she thought of Owen. Being back with him made everything else pale in comparison, and she was happier than she had been in a really long time, maybe even ever. The future she’d thought she’d lost was now back within her grasp, and it was so nice to know that this time she didn’t have to deal with being stalked alone. “Tiff, we need to sit down and talk—not tonight but soon, okay?”

“You know who broke into our place?” Tiffany asked.

“Not for sure, just an idea.” This morning there hadn’t been time to go into detail about the break-in. All she’d told her sister when she’d called was that someone had broken into their house overnight and taken a few things. But she wanted Tiffany to know everything. It wouldn’t be a fun conversation, but she wanted to tell her twin everything that had happened while she was in college, and with the man stalking her back then and the one stalking her now.
