Owen

Owen looked back at the groups that had decided to march with him back to Allen’s dungeon. Beyond the dwarves who followed him, another 300 human adults and their children had made the decision to come with them as well. At seeing around a third of the village leave, Owen had been surprised to see the men that had been with the chief looking smug. Though, when he learned that all of those with them had only been allowed to bring enough food for a week, he understood. To that man, those who marched with the dwarves had turned their backs on the village, so the village would turn their backs on them. Even so, they marched through the snow at a pace at which Owen expected to see them back home in just over 10 days. Which would mean they would be slightly hungry, but still had enough leeway to avoid going too many days without food. Although, if the other groups had succeeded, he would expect them to come help before long.

Still, as they marched, Owen couldn't help but feel uneasy as he felt like the woods were watching them. Part of him just chalked it up to the paranoia of having dealt with the two-headed wolves already. However, the thought of the other dungeon sending the second attack that Allen had predicted, was at the forefront in his mind as well. Even if he never let it show to those around him as he barked out orders to all those who carried spears, to include a large part of the humans. Which was a full 100 of them. Most of the men were in this group, but there was more than one woman that had picked up a spear as well. Thus, Owen had all the dwarves hand their spears over to them, as they focused on being a wall if another battle occurred, with several of the shorter, yet strong humans joining them in that task.

“Secure the perimeter and guard the others as they make camp. Once they are done, half will be on guard, the other half will be drilling once more!”

As the man who spoke English and the native tongue relayed this order, the whole group got to work as those with spears took their positions. Part of Owen hated the fact that keeping a good pace was double the work for the dwarves that were with him as not only were their legs shorter, but the weight of their armor added to the strain on them. Still, they and the other 20 humans who had taken up the axe and shield, would be participating in the guard and real duties that were coming. While it was still crude, Owen had developed a formation where two humans braced themselves at the back of a dwarf, or human with a shield while fighting. This allowed the shield bearer to focus on acting as a shield, while the two humans focused on attacking. While not
