Oh, am I glad to see the sunlight, even if it’s harsh and searing hot. As we leave the cavern in the desert behind us, a small part of me is also loathe to return to the real world.

Something was different there. The captain changed in front of my me from my irritating superior officer to a soft, pliable, sensual woman. I wonder if I had kissed her, would she have been just as open and willing?

I’ll never know now. I had the opportunity, and I didn’t take it. But that’s for the best. It was transactional, something we did merely to resolve the tension between us, and now we won’t need to ever speak of it again.

Yet I steal the occasional glance at her as we walk, making sure to look away quickly so she doesn’t notice. We head back to Attirex in silence, side by side. Maybe I should fall back again so I can look at her ass as she climbs over one dune and then the next, but that would surely be too obvious.

If anything, this tryst in the desert has taught me something about myself. I want someone who I can fall asleep next to, someone I can fuck every night and fatten up with my whelps. Someone small and soft like Zirelle, who gives easily to my hands, and clings on tight with her legs while I pump her full of my seed.

Someone who isn’t forbidden to me.

At least we secured her victory here today. She can dangle this man for everyone to see, calling him an accomplice of the Black Fox, and return the valuables that were stolen. Her reputation in the city will be restored. Perhaps this achievement will convince her that she is enough, and she will stop staying late into the night and drinking herself into oblivion. That was a small thing I could do in return for the experience of burying myself inside her.

“We’re here,” the captain says as we crest a dune. Sprawled out below us are the brightly-colored tents of Attirex. This city is like Zirelle herself: An unexpected jewel in the middle of a desert.

The guards meet us at the gate, and there’s much cheering and celebrating once the captain explains where we’ve been. This was a big victory for the city guard.

But she doesn’t believe in celebrating. In fact, she barely allows us a breather, and early the next morning we gear up to return to the cave, outfitted with camels and carts, to bring back what the Black Fox took.

Life will return to normal after this. There will be no more adventures across the desert, trapped in a small space with the captain through long, dark nights.
