This lesson builds on the previous lesson by adding more containers and creating a shell game approach. As before, you as the handler want to focus on observing your dog while walking your dog in a manner that allows them to guide you while covering the entire search area. If you find your dog moves outside the search area, it is ok to gently correct and bring them back to the search area. You will also begin to incorporate a search command for your dog.

Goal: Dog points or touches the container with the odor while consistently not alerting to the empty containers

Supplies Needed:

Odor Tin with Sweet Birch Odor or Straw with Sweet Birch Odor

Plastic Container with ¼” holes in the lid – mark this one so you know it contains the source odor

9 Empty Plastic Containers with ¼” holes in the lids

High Value Treats or Toy

Leash

Flat Collar or Harness
