A chronic autoimmune disease of unknown causes which attacks the myelin sheath causing scarring to the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It produces a various ailments and symptoms from fatigue to paralysis.

Over 400,000 people in the United States have multiple sclerosis causing paralysis in severe cases and in milder cases numbness and tremors in the limbs and body. The onset of multiple sclerosis usually occurs between people ages fifteen through forty-five. Most of the people living with multiple sclerosis are women and there is twice as many women having this disease than men.

Who can get this disease called multiple sclerosis? Anyone can be stricken with multiple sclerosis it is an equal opportunity offending disease, but is common among people ages fifteen to forty-five being mostly women; effecting all racial groups but people of Northern European descent are more likely of having the misfortune of having multiple sclerosis (My mother an African American woman had multiple sclerosis).
