Silver Lake Harbor, earlier that Sunday…

The Aerostar was making a banking right turn as it climbed and headed north, passing right over the Pantopa. Viktor Breshenko paid no attention to the airplane; he was too busy telling his young escorts to hurry and get their bathing suits back on. They were just entering the inlet to the harbor, and he knew that many of the locals here were very religious. If he was going to be able to get any information out of them, the last thing that he needed was to show up on a Sunday morning with two naked hookers on deck. That would make for quite a show, and they were closing in on the ferry docks. The Swan Quarter ferry was already pulling out of the slip and would pass down their port side. The girls’ suits left little to the imagination anyway. As they passed the ferry, the captain and the passengers on the upper deck got quite an eyeful. Several passengers with smartphones had their camera apps ready to take wide-angle shots of the ugly yacht but were quickly switched to zoom mode. Yet another viral social media moment was born.

The Pantopa pulled up to the outside of the tee at the end of the dock in the largest marina. It was the only one with enough depth and space to take her. Dumitrash was waiting on the end, though he did not offer to help the crew by catching the dock lines. He stepped onto the yacht’s teak deck wearing black-soled street shoes, which were leaving marks as he walked.

“Hello, Viktor.”

Breshenko motioned for him to come up to the top deck, where he was waiting to talk to him in private. “Mikhail, you said you had a good lead. What is it?”

“I thought I would have more for you, but the three I was hunting managed to escape.”

“Three people. On an island of only five hundred people, and you can’t find them? Tell me what I pay you for.”

“This.” He held up the pad from the restaurant that Casey had taken the top sheet from, the sheet which listed the Sea Devils from Hell.

“Empty paper! This is worth so much to me?”

“No, Viktor, this is. He held up the sheet that had been below Casey’s, only it was shaded with pencil, revealing the impressions from Casey’s page. He handed it to him. The ‘Sea Devils from Hell’ along with the four crewmember names were visible. “This was written by family of Blackbeard’s crew, who gave to one of the three I was following. She would not talk, the person she passed it to denied knowing of it. I followed when they left, but lost them on beach.”

“How can you lose someone on beach?”

“I was stuck, and had to walk to ferry station to call tow truck.”

“Did you lower your air pressure in tires?”

Dumitrash looked sheepish, even behind his sunglasses.
