CHAPTER 9
His head was fuzzy and B.B. couldnât think clearly. There was this fog over everything. As he tried to remember where he was, there was nothing there. What lay beneath him pressed against the length of his body, was something cold and hard and was killing his hip. If he opened his eyes to see why, then maybe the memories would come back?
B.B. shifted, rolling onto his back, trying to alleviate the pain in his hip, but when the cold hit his back a shiver raced through him, and a whole new pain raced up his spine. He fought against the lead weights that someone had obviously put on his lids, but B.B. still couldnât see anything.
Taking a deep breath, B.B. tried to center himself and relax. He needed to get his bearings. He attempted to swallow, but his throat was dry, so he stuck out his tongue to moisten his lips, hoping it would help a little, but still his mouth was like a freaking desert and there was this strange, almost chemical taste.
Struggling to sit up, B.B. groaned when his back and hip protested the motion, but he fought against it and managed to lift his shoulders from the cold surface. Gritting his teeth, B.B. pushed harder and bent at the waist. Once in a seated position, B.B. bent his legs and pulled them close. He felt his eyelashes flutter and knew his eyes were open at least a little, but still he only saw darkness. Maybe he was in a really dark place and his eyes were actually open.
Suddenly his head spun and his stomach rolled, making him nauseous and B.B. took a deep breath, trying to stave off the urge. He froze, allowing himself a moment as he breathed deeply, slowly. Raising a hand to his forehead to wipe away the sweat he felt lingering there, B.B. touched a piece of cloth and realized it was wrapped around his head. A blindfold? What the hell was he doing wearing a blindfold? Had Silas wanted to get frisky and put it on while he was sleeping?
B.B. listened to the sounds around him trying to gage if he heard anything familiar, but the only sound was a strange hissing noise that lasted about a minute before being interrupted by a shallow chink sound, then back to the soft hissing.
Taking a deep breath through his nose, B.B. then tried to see if he smelled anything familiar, but again, nothing. Wait, no, that wasnât right. There was the familiar scent of saltwater, but that really was nothing new living in Clearnight Haven. The scent of saltwater wafted over the whole town, but there was something different about this. It was stronger, but more subtle at the same time, which made no goddamn sense.
B.B. huffed out a breath of frustration as he grabbed the cloth covering his eyes and ripped it off. This was ridiculous. If he was ruining some sexy play with his mate, then to hell with it, they could always work their way back to it.
