Chapter 15 – Kalina

She was in love. Kalina’s life hadn’t been full of many absolutes, but when she was with Rafe, she knew this was it. The way he constantly searched for new ways to excite her and the tenderness in which he treated her was unreal. No man had ever cradled her in his comforting arms like Rafe had. She’d never felt fragile before. But with him, she felt vulnerable and powerful both at the same time. Like he could hurt her but nobody else could. And yet, she didn’t believe he’d ever purposely do anything to upset her. He’d been perfectly willing to leave the pool if she’d wanted to. He would have taken the date in an entirely different direction. All she’d needed to do was ask.

Thank God I didn’t back out of it.

It had been one of the most splendid nights she’d had in her life.

I’m even using a stupid word like splendid. I’ve never used that word in my life.

No manner of explaining, no words, would make him understand how free she’d felt when her body had slunk down into the warm pool water. She’d never swam like that, not in human form, and she wanted to pour her love all over him to share how great he’d made her feel. And his lovemaking.

Wow. What a man!

He’d made her experience new levels of sexual pleasure. Thane had always been a generous lover, but it had always felt as if he were pleasing her only because he’d had nobody better to spend his time with. She’d fawned over him and had treated him like a god. In return, he’d brought her to ecstasy, but in the end, she’d always felt slightly used. It hadn’t been his intention, she’d known that, but it happened nonetheless. She was sure Penny didn’t feel the same. She imagined Penny felt with Thane what Kalina now felt with Rafe, and now more than ever she finally got it. She understood why Penny had given up everything about her life to join theirs on the island. She would have done the same thing if given the opportunity with Rafe. She would become human for him. Sadly, that wasn’t possible. Not that she’d want to be human. Or maybe she would, she didn’t know. But would he leave his humanity behind to become a shark shifter if she wanted him to? Would she want him to? Could she ask him to if it was indeed something she would consider?

My mind is a jumbled mess and I absolutely love it. I want to skip rocks on the water and swing. Yes, I want to swing. I want to go to a park and do nothing but swing high and low. Oh my God. Is this real?

The thought of swimming beside him and returning home to their cabin in the evening made her giddy inside.
