~Trial Run~

I was the first soldier to walk through those doors. I could sense that everyone wanted to rush out and see what was beyond these walls. I was shocked of what I saw on the outside. It was very different to the inside of our camp. Inside we have red desert sand with patches of desert shrubs; we even have these boulders for walls. Outside was far different compared to this… Outside was just a dry desert that stretched out endlessly. There is little to no sand, no shrubs and no form of boulder or mountain structures; it was unbelievable to how secluded bare empty this place really is. This didn’t feel real at all, I didn’t want to believe it was real; I can see why they didn’t want to show us this.

I turned around to see everyone’s reaction to this; nearly everyone was just as confused as me… It was completely different to what everyone would have imagined. I mean it’s not like I imagined it being in some beautiful scenery or anything, but I just thought there would’ve been at least some sort of… life out here… I guess I was wrong.
