Dante, Rocco, and Jackson were all seated at the bar when I got back out there.

So that was why Dex was down here—it was beers after work for the Covington Security crew.

“I’ll be right back out with some food,” Benny murmured to me, rubbing his fingers on the small of my back like he couldn’t stop himself from touching me before heading back to the kitchen.

I had a feeling words were going to be had with his big brother while that food was being made.

For the next few minutes, I listened and laughed while Jo poured drinks for the security team. She and Dante fell into easy conversation, the two of their personalities more than enough to keep the rest of us quieter ones entertained with their banter which quickly devolved into a nineties pop band trivia challenge.

“Wait!” Jo held up her hand, halting the debate that was about to ensue over whether it was N*Sync or Backstreet Boys who came out on top. She came up to me and asked quietly, “What did Benny say?”

I stared at her. “What do you mean?”

“You know… if you’re together.” She smiled.

I flushed. “I didn’t ask him yet.”

“What? You guys were back there alone—sheesh!” She huffed and flung her towel over her shoulder. “Did you at least ask him—”

“Ask me what?”

We both turned to see Benny back from the kitchen with basketsful of finger food and a pickle plate that made my mouth water instantly.

“Cammie…”

“She wants to know if we are together.” I gulped and crossed my arms. I didn’t want to have the conversation about Amy right now—not in front of all these people.

He set the food down, his eyes never leaving mine as he closed the space between us and murmured in my ear, “Ask me my intentions.”

My head pounded. “What are your intentions?”

“To make sure there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that you, Cambria Mariano, are mine,” he said roughly, his hands cupping my waist. “Is that okay?”

I nodded, unable to get the word ‘yes’ out fast enough.

His hand snaked around my neck and pulled my mouth to his, the kiss hard and possessive and far too short before he pulled away, the hoots and hollers of the group filtering in over my heavy breaths.

I cupped my hands over my mouth, my smile so big I thought it might crack my flushed cheeks with its force.

“Hope that clears everything up,” he grunted, nodding curtly to the rest of the guys who were clapping and smiling.

I felt Jo tip toward me. “Holy. Hotness.” She fanned herself. “Looks like I need to ask one of these strapping gentlemen to walk me back to Blooms when we’re done.”

“No, Jo, we can go—”

She pressed her finger to my mouth, silencing me. “No way, Camjam.”

My cheeks burned, coming to the full realization that Benny had just made out with me in front of everyone in his bar. “I should probably—”

“Don’t even think about it,” she cut me off, warning me, “Never be ashamed about what you want, Cammie.
