C helembra gold robbery is considered to be one of the biggest bank robberies that happened in Kerala. It happened on 30th December 2007. Manager Haridas, as usual on 31st December 2007, Monday opened the branch and was ready to start the banking operations as usual. He did not have any clue about what has happened the previous night while opening the branch.

Around 9.50 am he and his officer opened the double lock (Strong room specially constructed with reinforced iron on all sides) as usual, he was welcomed by a storm of cement dust. For a moment he was stunned. As the dust settled, to his utter disbelief, he saw a big hole on the ground and all the almirahs were found broke open. He almost fainted. He immediately called Head Office and as per their advice, called the police in turn. He was advised not to touch anything and to keep the bank till the police arrive.
