Chapter Nine
When Jay looked up, still holding Alix, a brace of guards slid a platform into place before the throne. Raised half a meter from the floorâhigher than the daisâthis had to be the stage for their performance.
Jay had passed beyond the realm of mortification, his every thought bent on Alix. Alixâs words of permission were endearing but provided little consolation. What heâd seen done to Alix under Lyamâs command constituted nothing less than torture, and his repugnance for Lyam mingled with utter incomprehension. How could the king garner pleasure from othersâ pain and humiliation? All Jay cared for was protecting Alix, as far as possible, from the worst of their monarchâs cruel whims.
Then heâd the matter of the hundreds of people staring at them. No good wishing to fall on a sword this time. There was more than his petty life at stake.
âYou must please His Majesty,â Loretta had begged when sheâd broken the news of his fate. âDo everything our liege says, and do not defy him.â Sheâd dropped to an undertone. âI fear for you. I fear for us all.â
Jay blinkered his vision and helped Alix to his feet. He supposed he should be pleased the king hadnât commanded Anton to do this. Heâd have had to detest Anton then, whatever the manâs attitude toward the job. âLetâs get this over with,â he murmured.
âGods, am I that repellent?â
Alixâs plaintive whisper surprised him. Sounding callous had been the last of his concerns. He frowned. âOf course not.â
Alix rewarded him with a noise caught halfway between a laugh and a sob. The watchers jostled about them, chairs and benches scraping as people angled their seats for a better view. Jay raised himself onto the small, round stage, laid with light pinewood. He turned, intending to help Alix climb up behind him, but Anton had released the shackles about the boyâs wrists, so Alix had already clambered up alone.
âFuck him doggy-style,â instructed Lyam, straightening his crown. âI want to see his face. I adore how he looks when he hurts.â
You villain. I want to see his face.
Guilt shadowed his anger. Heâd enjoyed how Alix looked in mild pain too, when the boy had writhed over his lap. Had that been so different? Right now, it seemed wrong to believe in any but the bad variety of suffering, and he was damned if he was going to ail Alix when he was fucking the lad. He forced a terse answer. âVery well, my liege.â
Obediently Alix assumed the correct stance on his hands and knees, and new determination fired Jay. Alix must enjoy this as much as possible, and Jay didnât want to risk driving into the boy with the preparation of the plug alone. âI need lubricant, sire.â
Lyam hooted. âYouâre that large, are you?â
Jay firmed his lips, but yes, he silently admitted his length and girth were at least that of the anal dildo that filled Alix.
âI know. Pass the man the butter.â The king looked delighted with himself, as if heâd discovered the secret of alchemy.
