Mash one cup of the strawberries with sugar in a bowl; allow to stand for half an hour. If desired, put in food coloring and milk. Scatter with the pudding mix, then stir until they are well blended. Fold in the whipped topping. Split the cake into 3 horizontal layers. Arrange the bottom layer on a serving plate, then spread with half a cup of the strawberry mixture. Repeat the layers. Place the third cake layer on top; spread over the sides and top of the cake with the remaining strawberry mixture.

Freeze, covered, at least 60 mins or overnight. Discard from freezer. After 15 mins, slice. Add the remaining strawberries for garnish.
