Website grids can be complex, but increasingly, web pages are read on small screens as more people access sites by smartphone rather than desktop and laptop computers. Current devices often have very high resolutions. However, human vision has to be taken into account on phones, because their dimensions are often about 5 × 7 inches, so while the resolution of type may be high, the type can be too small for human eyes. Web pages are typically smaller than the largest screens, so may have a maximum width smaller than a large screen.
