Detective Simmonds stopped to talk to the concierge again before leaving Cassie’s apartment building. “Can you describe the delivery guy for me?”

“Well, he was of average height, around five-foot eleven. Short mousey hair, and around thirty years old. He was friendly enough. As I stated earlier, he gave me no reason to raise suspicion. Just like any other delivery guy, to be honest.”

“I will need to see your CCTV footage.”

Jim lowered his eyes, “Sure. I’m afraid it’s an old security system. I can barely make out what I am seeing when the need arises.”

Simmonds rolled his eyes. “Typical. It beggars belief in an age of 4K video cameras that we still have poor quality security footage. But hey, I’m no digital expert.”

Jim chimed in, “I have contacted the owners of the building several times regarding updating security. However, it always boils down to money. Like everything else.”

Simmonds shook his head. “And the money they must make on service charges and more. Makes me sick.”

Simmonds took a call, murmured into his phone then turned back to Jim.

“Sorry about that. There are two officers on their way. I do not want anyone other than them to enter Miss Reynolds’ apartment. Is that understood?”

“No problem,” assured the concierge.

Simmonds swivelled the book around and glanced at the signature. “I have never heard of that delivery company. Who the hell is, Parcels on the Move?”

The concierge held his hands up. “Sorry. I don’t know what to say.”

“Well, I suggest you be more thorough in future. Because that delivery company’s name right there, would have raised suspicion with me immediately.”

Jim lowered his eyes, “Understood,” he commented.

Simmonds hurried out of the building, shaking his head in disbelief.
