Why was she so cozy? Chelsea couldn’t remember the last time she’d woken up not freezing. There wasn’t any light to give her a clue of what time it might be or even where she was.

Warm breath tickled the back of her neck and she stiffened. Had Evan come back?

No, he wasn’t the cuddly kind. If he’d been here, she would have been on the couch instead of a comfortable bed with deliciously strong arms wrapped around her body.

And… Oh, morning wood poking into her backside. Delectable morning wood that was definitely not Evan’s. As her brain woke up, she remembered Dr. Barber and how he’d taken care of her.

“Time to get up,” she whispered. Chelsea wasn’t interested in another awkward scene with Dr. Barber. No, Tennyson. What an awesome name.

Careful not to disturb him, she slid out of bed, surprised to find herself still dressed. Then again, it wasn’t so much of a surprise. Tennyson had gone out of his way to make her feel comfortable. He hadn’t taken advantage of her when she’d flat out offered and had given her every opportunity to pull away.

Tiptoeing down the stairs, she grabbed her boots and coat along with the keys Tennyson had shown her, then crept outside. Fuck, it was cold. Hopping on one foot, she got her boots on, then huddled into her coat before scurrying to the barn.

Despite the severity of the storm the previous night, it looked like they only got a few inches of fresh snow. Maybe it stopped after she crashed and burned. The aged Dodge started on the second try, grumbling to life with a whine. Her belly rumbled at the same time, making her swallow hard.

“C’mon babies, don’t make mama throw up now,” she muttered. Thankfully, they settled down and she put the truck in gear, hoping she’d be back before Tennyson woke up.

A daddy. Wow. Who knew there was another daddy in Montgomery? Then again, maybe it wasn’t so surprising. She knew perfectly well what Kaden and Jennifer got up to. The minute he saw her carvings, she just knew.

He also swatted Jennifer’s butt on occasion, and sometimes gave her that special look daddies had for their little girls. It was the one that said, “Behave, or you’ll go over Daddy’s knee for a spanking.”

“Lucky girl,” she muttered, easing the Dodge through the turn leading into town. “She’s got my dog, a hot man, and a daddy.”

Chelsea would have Princess back soon though. She had ten grand coming in if Tennyson was right about his friend being good for it. That was enough to buy her a used truck and put a deposit on another house. She also had a few other pieces in her shop she could sell.

Humming to herself, she backed into her driveway and loaded what she needed, then drove to the hardware store.

Mr. Parker was tottering to the front door of the store by the time she parked on the street. Hopping out, she picked her way across the fresh snow and grabbed the shovel leaned against the building.
