Thomas Goodall entered the room. "Ray. I assume Director Skaggs has enlightened you?"

"The idea sounds exciting. I just asked him when I start."

TC sat on the front of the desk, facing me with his arms crossed. "We have a few things to take care of first—namely, Dunedin, Mycene, and Echelon. We need you to finish our current set of missions, cleaning up those colonies. But what we'd like you to do in the meantime is to plant a few seeds."

"Seeds?" I asked.

"With the rebellion. I'd like you to pull a rebel or two aside during these raids, tell them you want to defect, that you are conducting the raids under duress. And then help them to escape so that word can get back to their command."

"Sounds easy enough."

TC pursed his lips. "I don't think it will be as simple as you might think. They will have to be convinced you want to defect back, and you will have to put in a lot of time and effort to earn back their trust. They will most definitely be suspicious of how you escaped and of your motives once you get there."

"All I have to do is pretend I hate The Corporation, right?"

"Repeat these words to me. I think The Corporation is contemptuous."

"Easy. I think The Corporation is con... I think The Corporation is con..." I cleared my throat. "I think The Corporation is con..." I scowled. "What the heck?"

TC smirked. "You are an honest man when it comes to your beliefs in The Corporation, Ray. You can't bring yourself to lie about it. But don't fret. We have training we can put you through. We can teach you to deceive, right along with the best of them. You'll be quite convincing by the time your training is complete. Are you still interested in this task?"

"Very. Like I told the Director a few minutes ago, when do we begin."

TC nodded to Skaggs. "Bring him in."

The door opened and JJ came in. "Mr. Goodall, Director, I take it he is with us?"

TC looked at me. "You will have a partner with you. Mr. Johnston was a war hero against the Togmal as well, and he was an agent for us against the rebellion. Just as you were, he was deep undercover. They had no idea he was a double. And thankfully we were able to recover him at the time of his accident. So, you see, Ray, we will soon be striking a death blow against the rebellion and you and Mr. Johnston will be key to making that happen."

JJ grinned. "Please tell me you are in with this, Ray Ray. Tell me you are as excited about this as I am."

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't."

JJ clenched his fists and scrunched his face. "Yeeesss! This is incredible. I can't tell you how great this will be. You and me, Ray Ray. Bringing down the rebellion together. Cutting the head off that snake."

TC said, "There is a risk.
