“What are you smiling about, Bible man?” Tag asks as he throws himself down onto his cot which is next to my own. My team called me Bible man because the drill sergeant from boot camp had decided it was fitting considering my namesake. I love it. Can’t you tell?

“He got a love letter,” Trigger calls out from the other side of the tent where his cot is located.

I don’t correct him because it would just add fuel to the fire. If I don’t engage Trigger, it will irritate him and he’ll eventually drop it. I turn back to the letter and read it again. Then I pull out some paper and a pen. Sparrow had asked me some tough questions, and I honestly don’t know if I’m going to answer them. They weren’t things I liked to talk about, but then I’d asked her about her home life growing up and she’d answered me. I don’t like her answer because I don’t like that her parents have treated her so badly. I personally think they should be dragged out to a firing range in front of a field of new recruits and be used for target practice. I’m not sure if I should say that to Sparrow, so I decide to keep it to myself.
