This example is about what George does that his teachers would like to be different.

What is the problem?

George kept on passing wind (he called this farting) at school.

Why does the child behave in this way at present?

The shaded sections are to do with ASD.

Mindblindness

Can they see others’ points of view or understand feelings and needs of others in this situation? Do they realise they need to communicate their needs to someone?

Due to his autism, he does not realise that the smell from him passing wind is unpleasant for his peers. His mindblindness prevents him from being able to consider their discomfort intuitively.
