It took me ten minutes to walk home but I didn’t mind at all. The sun was shining in the sky.

I decided today was a good day, but not for Tim Phillips. I had to get hold of his number and there was only one person apart from Aimee I could get it from.

I dialled Ethan’s number.

“I was just about to call you.” His voice was deep and manly.

God, he sounds delicious. “I wanted to ask you a favour, but you have to keep it between us.”

“I’m intrigued.”

“Promise me, what I tell you won’t go any further.”

“I promise.”

I took a deep breath. “Aimee is pregnant, and Tim Phillips is the father.”

“Bloody hell, Tess. It’s a good job I’m sitting down.”

“I know, right.”

“How far gone is she?”

“Over five months. She conceived New Year’s Eve.”

“At my party?”

“That’s the one.”

“Wow.”

“So, can I have his number then?”

“Yeah, of course, but why?”

“Because that little scrotum has decided he doesn’t want the responsibility of having a baby.”

“Ouch.”

“Exactly and I’m going to let him know my opinion of him.”

“I’ll text it over to you now.”

“Thanks.”

“I may drive over in a bit to see you if that’s okay?”

“Yes, of course, I’d love to see you, but I might be closer to you if Tim agrees to meet me.”

“Tell you what; if he agrees, call me and I’ll pick you up and take you to wherever he is, then we can go out and get a bite to eat together.”

“Sounds good, but Aimee is coming around to mine later to tell my folks she is expecting, so I can’t be out too long.”

“No worries. We can drive back to yours and sit in the garden if you want?”

“That’s probably a better idea.”

“I’ll text the number now but go easy on him.”

“You know I won’t.”

“That’s what I’m scared of.”

“I’ll call you soon.”
