LOYALTY AND AFFECTION
We see the concept of clinging beautifully portrayed in the marriage relationship. âFor this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave [cling] to his wife; and the two shall become one fleshâ (Ephesians 5:31, NASB). The holy, intoxicating one-flesh intimacy in marriage happens when a husband and wife âstick like glueâ to one another.
We experience delight when we cling to our marriage partner with affection and loyalty. And we delight God when we cling to Him with love and affection. Moses understood this, and he commanded the Israelites to cling to their God:
