DEFINITION

Peace—Shalowm, the Hebrew word translated “peace,” comes from the root shalam, which can mean to be complete or made whole.1

DEVOTION

There is a realm of unusual peace that is available to you. When you choose to dwell in Jesus, a blanket of peace comes upon you.

The Lord said that you can remain in peace if you keep your mind fixed upon Him. If you stay rooted in His promises, you will abort the tormenting plans of hell and live in uncommon tranquility. This is a promise not for a few select believers but for each one of us. This is what was happening when the boat was being tossed to and fro and Jesus was sleeping (Matt. 8:23–27). He was unbothered because He knew His Father. Knowing the Father on an intimate level causes your heart to be established in complete peace.

The shalom of God is His wholeness and completeness in every area of your life! He finished it. He planned it. He paid the price for you to be whole in every way. And now you get to enjoy it. His peace comes as a result of knowing who He is and choosing to remain in that truth. In that place of rest there is unusual peace that others will not understand. You will sail through the storms unmoved and unbothered.
