If you’re single in your fifties, your dwelling place should reflect your maturity. Now is not the time to try to relive your college days. There’s nothing wrong with a vinyl record collection but just don’t have them stored and displayed in plastic milk crates. And give up the harem motif. Scarves draped over lamp-shades and beaded curtains may have been sexy in your twenties but now they just make you look like you’re a crazy tarot card reader.

Don’t worry about the fact that you feel terrible in the morning and you didn’t even stay out the night before. Gone are the days when you could party until 4am and then be at work bright and early at 8. No more carousing the bars at night and doing the walk of shame the next morning. In fact, “getting any” now refers to sleep.
