Jerry contacts his insurance broker and requests proposals from several financially sound long-term care insurance carriers. Jerry wants LTC coverage for both of them.

They ask their insurance broker to find a company that discounts the premium when two people in the same household purchase LTC insurance at the same time.

Jerry and Roger apply for the most they can afford in a comprehensive LTC policy. Since they are both young, they lock in the benefit at $150 per day with a twenty-day waiting period and a lifetime payment. Their daily benefit will increase but their premium remains constant.

They complete a medical questionnaire as part of the application, and authorize the insurance company to send an APS (attending physician statement) request to their doctors.

Once their policies are issued, they pay the premium by direct deposit from their checking account.
