My children need an active hands-on daddy. They also need to know that both their dad and stepmom work hard to provide for the family.

This means that it is perfectly acceptable to let the children play, and even be bored, while we parents work. This is true for two reasons. First, it is essential for parents to model the value of hard work to their children. Second, free time allows children the opportunity to exercise their imaginations.
