Programme Changes

There were several changes to the programme of events at the 1975 TT. The Lightweight 125cc class was dropped. The capacity limit in the former Formula 750 race was increased to 1000cc and the race was renamed the Open Classic TT, with a first prize of £1,500 and riders making clutch starts in pairs. The 750 Sidecar race was opened up to 1,000cc machines. The races for Production machines of 250, 500 and 750cc, previously run over four laps, now also allowed in machines of 1000cc, reflecting the growth of this capacity among road machines, with the race distance increased to ten laps. In a first at the TT, the riding of each Production machine was shared by a two-man team, and the race continued to use a Le Mans-type start. In fact, in another first, it became a form of handicap event, for the 250s only had to cover nine laps.
