Paul Fraser booked into a bed and breakfast in Holmewood, on the outskirts of Chesterfield, and took himself off to bed for the afternoon. His car, non-existent as far as the B&B owners were aware, was parked on a side road; a walking tour, he had told them, no, I don’t have a car. He slept until five, then went out to find food. He was back in time for the evening news, and saw the results of his night of passion with the lovely Olga. Her mum was distraught, asking people to come forward if they knew anything. The police officer with her, a DS Granger, asked for information concerning a man they wished to interview, last seen wearing a navy-blue woolly hat, a black jacket and walking with a limp.

Yet another thing to hate Bialik for, that bloody limp. Paul felt his temper begin to rise and he switched off the small television set and took out his phone, one of a pair Todd had purchased for them to use. Todd didn’t want his swish iPhone showing any calls from a strange number.
