I walk the guests to one of the tables closest to the window, though not at the window.

Guest: “Excuse me, I asked for a window table.”

Me: “I am very sorry, sir, but all the window tables have been spoken for.”

Guest: “What? We called the minute your phones opened! There is no one in the dining room. How could we not get a window table?”

Me: “I am very sorry, sir, but all the tables have been spoken for.”

Guest: “By whom! There is no one here!”

Me: “I am so sorry, sir, but we have quite a few regulars coming in this evening. They have specific tables. Some are also held by the owner. This here is a lovely table.”
