Chapter 13
Xander
WHEN I GOT TO THE CLUBHOUSE on Monday morning, Dax was waiting outside for me. He handed me a mug of coffee. âMorning,â he said.
âMorning,â I echoed, grateful to see him waiting out there. I wanted to discuss the Cora thing with him, go over all the details and see if Dax could suss out just what I should tell Otis. I had no doubt that our clubâs president would want an update, and I still didnât think I had anything more to tell him other than the fact that Cora had a young daughter. There had to be more than that, though. Iâd been on this for a week now; I should have had all the womanâs secrets.
I just didnât have any idea what kind of secrets I should be fishing for.
I supposed that if I didnât have the kind of information that Otis wanted this week, then maybe he would be a little more specific about just what it was he was looking for from me. If nothing else, at least I could tell him I had tacit approval to continue sitting in for her classes and that we had gone out to dinner the other night.
Dax grinned at me. âSo how did the dinner go the other night? Did you tell Cora about the fact that you were hired to protect her?â
âYeah,â I said. âActually, it went surprisingly well. She wasnât happy, and she definitely wanted to know who had hired me and why. But when I told her I couldnât tell her who it was and didnât even know why, she let the matter drop.â
âThatâs good,â Dax said, nodding. âAnd sheâs going to let you keep doing your job?â
âYeah,â I said. âShe understands that I have to, I guess.â
I was looking forward to seeing Cora again. After a bit of deliberation, I had decided not to message her over the weekend. I didnât want her to be spooked. I still remembered what she had said after weâd had sex, about having a kid and a life. She didnât want our dinner to be a date, and she definitely didnât want to make this a thing. She had also told me that we would never talk about what had happened about the other night. So best to treat it like she was just my client. Even if she was a client I had been lucky enough to have sex with.
What great sex it had been, too. I didnât know what it was about her, but her body just fit so perfectly against mine. Of course, it was always exciting to have sex with someone for the first time, especially someone as attractive as Cora, but there had been more to it than just that, more to it than the incredible noises of appreciation sheâd been making, or the slick, tight feel of her pussy clenching tightly around my length.
âSo I found out something interesting about her,â Dax said suddenly.
âOh yeah?â I asked, immediately alert. I knew
