Chapter 34

Aria

“Come on, Jack! Hurry up!” I pull on his arm, hoping to motivate him to get out the door.

“I’m coming. What’s the rush?” he asks.

Growling, I pull on him harder. “We have food tasting to get to.”

It’s been a few days since the well was repaired, and subsequently Jack was injured. With my healing treatments he was able to recover, and now he’s finally up and moving. Now I just need him to come with me. I worked hard over the last few days to get the wedding plans in motion, and I’ll be damned if he makes us late.

“I am hungry,” he admits. Pausing we listen to his stomach growl.

“Stop being silly, and let’s hurry. Marge will hate us if we are late.” I feel like I’m pleading now, and he’s still being stubborn.

While I usher him along, Kristin is sitting at the dining table chuckling. “You better listen to her Jack. Pretty soon she will carry you out of here.”

With a smirk, Jack stops walking. “But I haven’t said good morning to you yet, Kristin. How are you?”

Rolling my eyes, I pull on his arm. “I swear, Jack. Now you are delaying us on purpose.” Digging my nails into his arm, I make him wince as I pull harder.

Kristin keeps sipping on her water while grinning at the two of us. “I’m good Jack. But you should hurry. Marge isn’t known for her patience.”

“You two are no fun,” Jack mumbles before heading towards the door.

“Thank Vexie you are finally moving!” Grunting, I push him the rest of the way towards the door. “Now, let’s go!”

For a moment, he digs his heals in, and resists me. “You’re so pushy. What happened to understanding each other, and doing things together?”

Growling for the second time, I keep pushing him. “We can do that after the wedding. Right now, I want there to be a wedding, and that won’t happen if we don’t hurry.”

Chuckling, Jack steps outside, and starts walking towards the kitchen. Looking over his shoulder, he asks, “Aren’t you coming?” Shaking his head, he adds, “Always slowing us down.”

My mouth hangs open as I stare in disbelief. “I’m going to kill you before this day ends.”

With another smirk, he picks up his pace, leaving me behind. “You better hurry up or we’re going to be late!” He calls out to me.

“That’s it!” I yell before chasing after him. Once he sees me sprinting at him, he starts running. “That’s right! You better run!” My voice carries over the village square, and he looks back and winks.

Jack disappears into the kitchen as I finally catch up to him. Punching his arm, I make him wince, and force him to shake out the numb appendage. “You don’t have to be so violent,” he tells me.

A growl escapes my throat as I glare up at my mate. “If your goal is to see how far you can push me today, you are nearing my limit.”

Before he can say anything more, Marge comes bustling over, dusting her hands off on her apron.
