The next morning, Casidhe arose, dressed, and went down to breakfast. Lesslyn and Blaire were bustling around going over party planning. Lesslyn was instructing Brody to pick up supplies, food, and beverages. Kelly was talking quietly at one corner of the long tables with Aedan and Claire who had arrived for her morning training. They all looked up and greeted Casidhe when she entered. She felt a little self-conscious and mumbled a quick âmorning,â and gave a faint smile on her way to the coffee pot. All the activity reminded her she would see Dana again that evening. That thought excited and made her nervous, at the same time.
She grabbed some toast and eggs and was going to sit away from Kelly and the otherâs, but they motioned for her to come closer.
âPlease, sit with us. We were just going over the gaps in your training on pack dynamics.â Claire said. Casidhe barely remembered her from the all-pack meeting. She had long brown hair and rather bushy eyebrows that somehow worked for her face. Her eyes were also a chocolate brown color and had flecks of green. She had large lips that hid larger teeth. Still, Casidhe found her uniquely pretty. Aedan, her mate, was less remarkable. He had dark brown hair that framed his face in a shaggy way and blended into his beard and mustache. But he had a nice smile. The only thing that made Aedan stand out in her mind was his height. When he stood to go get more coffee, he was noticeably shorter than all the other men and some of the women. Casidhe noticed most State Changers, men and women, were large in stature. Aedan proved it was not a foolproof stereotype.
âThanks.â Casidhe sat down next to them. âWill we be in the pack room upstairs again?â
âYes, I think so.â
âWe have some displays to set up, so weâll meet you up there when youâre finished with your breakfast.â
Casidhe finished and left the busy kitchen, where Lesslyn was piling more on Brody. Casidhe refilled her cup with coffee and ascended the stairs reaching the pack room. Aedan and Claire had put up several charts on the walls with names of pack members neatly listed in sections.
âGreat, youâre here. Pull up one of the bar stools and weâll get started. I know you have met everyone, but itâs not really possible to remember twenty-four people after only one meeting.â Aedan began.
âNot unless youâre Blaire.â Chimed in Claire with a smile.
âRight.â Aedan smiled back.
âSo, Kelly already told you some of this information, but we thought it would be helpful to see it. The Alphaâs inner circle are those that have been with the pack the longest and have proven themselves loyal and dependable to the Alphas. The Alpha always has a second or Beta. This is the pack back-up in case the Alpha and Alpha-She are occupied or incapacitated in some way. You can think of them as the Vice President. In our pack that person is Ronan.
