Basketball Makes âEm Crazy
Indiana University won the 1987 menâs NCAA basketball championship thanks to Keith Smartâs jumper in the closing seconds. I was sixteen years old, sitting two feet away from the television and crying as if there were no tomorrow. When youâre a Hoosier fan, every victory is important, and none more so than winning the Big Dance.
After the game I tried to call my aunt long distance, but instead of the phone ringing, an automated voice perfectly described the state of mind that Indiana basketball fans have when a game is on: âAll circuits are busy, please try again later.â
