How It Feels to Use the Tools

Wired at 1: Feeling Great!: If you are already wired at 1, learning these tools will amount to an emotional insurance policy ensuring that as new challenges arise you have a brain-based set of tools that will enable you to stay present in the moment, bounce back from stresses more rapidly, and deepen your capacity to access the powerful eudonic rewards. You will know your purpose in life and be more deeply aware of your rewards on a moment-to-moment basis.

Wired at 2: Feeling Good: If you are wired at 2, chances are you will find using these tools very interesting and helpful. You will learn how to spend more moments of the day at Brain State 1 and how to feel secure in being in all the states. You will be able to experience a great deal of stress but know the pathway back to a state of well-being. Chances are you will nab some stress circuits, weaken them, and find a new sense of peace, acceptance, and joy in your life. You may be able to start with using the tools frequently throughout the day and seeing favorable results within a few months.

Wired at 3: A Little Stressed: If you are wired at 3, you may wonder if you really want to be wired for joy or if feeling only a little stress isn’t good enough. If you want these rewards, you may find that you can use the tools four to six times per day without much difficulty, but then forget to use them for a few days rather easily, too. It will be helpful for you to use EBT Kits (see Appendix B) and access a group for support but you may want to use the method on your own, instead. Be sure to identify which of the rewards is most meaningful to you, and then keep a vision of yourself with an abundance of that—or those—rewards. Focus on spending more moments of the day aware of your emotional state, securely connected to yourself, and more often than not getting to 1. Most people who are wired at 3 move to Brain State 2 within a few months and to Brain State 1 in less than a year, but everyone is different, and it takes as long as it takes.

Wired at 4: Definitely Stressed: If you are wired at 4, it may be challenging to imagine living life wired at 1 or 2, and you may want to focus on alleviating stress rather than creating joy. Go as slowly as you would like to go. You may have stress symptoms that are adding to your stress, so by all means use the tools to respond effectively to those symptoms by nabbing those stress circuits first.
